Computer Scientist-Software Systems, Vision & Learning
    SRI International - Princeton, NJ
From image capture to situational understanding, SRI’s Center for Vision Technologies (CVT) offers end-to-end vision solutions that translate into real-world applications. Our scientists pioneered real-time, real-world computer vision with the early development of pyramid/wavelet processing that enabled analysis with unprecedented speed and precision. They continue today with a broad array of advances in visual navigation, 3D scene modeling, and object and activity recognition.

The Vision & Learning group in CVT is currently searching for a Computer Scientist to join their group of cutting edge researchers. This position will focus on algorithm and system development in the areas of computer vision, image/video processing, artificial intelligence and machine learning. You would work closely with a team to develop operational prototype systems based on research and apply the technologies to challenging, real-world problems.

    Responsibilities of the position include:
    • Effectively lead and contribute to the development of operational prototypes based on research and transition capabilities for deployment to real world operations.
    • Work with government and commercial clients to develop solutions to their requirements leveraging computer vision and machine learning capabilities.
    • Seek, develop and champion new business opportunities based around the technical capabilities of the group.
    • Write proposals, work as a team to actively seek funding from various government and commercial agencies.
    • Give technical and business presentations to external clients, academic and government/industry audiences and to internal staff and management.

    • PhD or Masters in Computer Science or related technical engineering domain with an emphasis on computer vision systems.
    • Given the nature of US Govt. business in this area, US Citizenship is required, current clearance is a plus
    • Proven ability to take on a Principle Investigator (PI) role, leading related technology areas through advancement and proposal/funding opportunities with clients.
    • Excellent programming skills in 2 or more of the following languages: Java (preferred), C#, C/C++, Scala, Python, JavaScript
    • Experience with large software projects
    • Experience with web-based software development
    • Experience with SQL databases
    • Experience with virtualization and containerization (AWS, Mesos, Docker)
    • Experience with NoSQL databases including Accumulo and HBase.
    • Experience with cluster computation frameworks (e.g. Hadoop, Mesos, Spark)
    • Familiar with state of the art web application development stacks (e.g., React or Angular frameworks)
    • Experience with state-of-the-art version control, build, package and test management (Git Maven, Jenkins, etc.)
    • Travel approx. 10%.
