    The self-driving car project's mission is to improve people's lives by transforming mobility. We're looking for a Hardware Test Engineer with a broad range of skills to help develop, test, and deploy next generation camera and imaging sensors that are the eyes of the self-driving system.

    • Support camera module and lens manufacturing by developing and deploying systems to improve test integration, assembly tracking, and reporting pipelines
    • Develop, deploy, and optimize custom drivers for automating measurements of sensor systems
    • Develop novel calibration processes involving multiple sensors and actuation stages in the loop
    • Analyze and present data collected from sensor systems, and develop tools to help do so
    • Design and implement plumbing needed to integrate new sensors into the self-driving car
    Minimum qualifications:
    • 3 years of experience with imaging and electro-optical systems
    • Experience with numerical analysis and data visualization with tools such as MATLAB, Python, NumPy, or Matplotlib
    • Experience with image data manipulation and computation and interpretation of standard image quality metrics through Imatest or similar (MTF, color correction matrix, lens shading, etc.)
    • Experience with communication interfaces (I2C, RS232, USB, Ethernet)

    Preferred qualifications:
    • Experience with optical layout packages (e.g., Zemax, CodeV, FRED, etc.)
    • Experience with SolidWorks or other CAD package
    • Experience working with core Google technologies such as Stubby, Dremel, and Borg
    • Experience with using and programming lab instruments; oscilloscope, programmable power supply, spectrum analyzer, signal generator
    • Familiar with basic (PID) control theory
    • Familiar with board schematics
